The Street Graffiti art was sprayed when Banksy visited New Orleans, three years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. There, Banksy used the still-tattered urban fabric of New Orleans as an eloquent backdrop for his critique of the situation. Banksy painted Abraham Lincoln as a homeless man, pushing a trolley full of goods, using the same stencil he would employ for these works on cardboard. The building upon which Banksy had painted his image of Lincoln has since been demolished to make way for a healthcare facility. About the Artist David Shrigley was born in Macclesfield in 1968 and studied at Glasgow School of Art. About the Art and Artist ‘Dead Rebels’ is an awe inspiring captivating believable and moving satire of The Sex Pistols, SID VICIOUS, ELVIS PRESLEY and JIMI HENDRIX trilogy of screenprints from POW in 2006. Insect at his best, where he captures the reality of Rock N Roll stardom. From his early street Graf period these screenprints from his anarchic phase of 2006 is from his ‘Dead Rebels’ triptych. The triptych includes Dead Sid, Dead Elvis and Dead Hendrix on 300 gsm white wove art paper. Other editions of Dead Sid, Dead Elvis and Dead Hendrix followed the original on Silver and Gold wove paper in 2007. The U.K.-born and -based artist, who prefers to keep his true identity anonymous, first rose to prominence as part of the “insect” Street artist collective, which was active in London between 1996 and 2005. Exit Through The Gift Shop is a mockumentary "edited" by Banksy, in which a film-maker hanging out with key street artists decides to cash in on the art world's credulity, himself – (The Telegraph, 6 March 2010). ‘Forgive Us Our Trespassing’, Salt Lake City, Utah- First appeared in 2010 as street graffiti art, the image in Forgive Us Our Trespassing sets aside Banksy’s usual biting satire and derision, revealing instead subtler, more nuanced sentiments. The iconic image of the praying boy kneeling beside a can of paint and a brush first appeared on a wall in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the autumn of 2019, Banksy introduced a unique artistic endeavour by opening a storefront in Croydon called Gross Domestic Product. Instead of allowing buyers to directly purchase his latest editions, they were redirected to a website upon arrival at the store. On the website, they could register their interest and participate in a lottery for a chance to win only one item. This Flower Thrower (love Bomber) was gifted by the guys in brown jackets who were told only to offer these screen prints to children aged around 14 years and under. The bottle has the well-known blue and white Tesco value label. The neck of the bottle is stuffed with a burning cloth. The label reads "Petrol Bomb." By choosing Tesco supermarkets’ own-brand of beer bottle and its basic no-bones packaging. Banksy’s painting speaks to a bread-line culture of austerity and welfare. Banksy designed and released Tesco Petrol Bomb at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair where this was purchased in a show of support for those who were arrested during the 2011 Bristol riots. People were protesting the new Tesco Express that opened in the Stokes Croft area. The protests became violent and people were arrested as reported on the national news. Banksy produced several prints for sale and donated the profits to those who need to pay for legal assistance. People were able to buy the posters exclusively at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair days after the riots broke out. Tesco Petrol Bomb is also a symbol of the supermarket expansion. Supermarkets are detrimental to free markets as local shops are getting wiped out.
