Title: Monumental Hand-Cut Crystal Centrepiece Bowl c.1935 Description: Monumental Hand-Cut Crystal Centrepiece Bowl, circa 1935 A magnificent large hand-cut crystal bowl of exceptional clarity and craftsmanship, dating from the inter-war period, circa 1935. This impressive piece is of deep circular form with a finely scalloped rim and a continuous field of bold cross-cut diamonds, executed with remarkable precision. The extensive cutting refracts light beautifully, creating a lively play of brilliance across the surface. The base is finished with a sharply defined twenty-four-point starburst within a broad polished foot ring — a characteristic detail of high-grade English and Irish crystal of the period. The weight, balance, and brightness of the glass indicate a high lead content and the work of an accomplished cutter, quite possibly from one of the leading glasshouses such as Webb, Stuart, or Edinburgh & Leith. Although unmarked, the quality of both material and workmanship clearly places this bowl in the upper tier of early 20th-century production. Its generous scale and exhibition-level finish suggest it may have been produced for formal display or presentation rather than everyday domestic use. Title: Mid-19th Century French Japy Frères Black Marble Clock Garniture Set Description: Mid-19th Century French Japy Frères Black Marble Clock Garniture Set France, c.1850 A substantial and decorative three-piece clock garniture set by Japy Frères, dating to the mid-19th century. The central clock is housed in a very heavy architectural case of black marble with contrasting red and ochre breccia marble inlay. Classical in form, the case features turned columns, roundels, and a glazed front panel revealing the original gridiron pendulum with glass rods. The white enamel dial has Arabic numerals and finely pierced hands, set within a brass bezel. The eight-day movement is stamped Japy Frères and numbered, striking on a bell on the hour and half-hour. The backplate shows typical Japy quality, and the mechanism is currently running, though sold without guarantee. The set is completed by a pair of matching garniture sidepieces, each with conforming marble decoration and circular tazza tops. Amplifier – AIWA MX-1500K The MX-1500K is a full-size integrated amplifier rated at 50 watts per channel, featuring a real-time LED spectrum analyser and 7-band graphic equaliser. The tall fluted column is richly carved with acanthus leaf and laurel decoration, raised on a substantial circular base with moulded and scrolled supports. Finished in aged gilt with a soft varnished patina. Fitted with a later handmade lined silk shade of excellent quality, trimmed with gold fringe and tassels. The shade complements the classical form beautifully and gives the lamp an elegant presence. Removed from an Elizabethan stately home in Worcestershire. Structurally sound and of good weight, with some wear to the gilding and minor storage marks to the shade. As with all vintage lighting, electrical testing is recommended prior to use. Reimann, 1846 A well-executed pair of oval portrait drawings dated 1846, depicting General Sir Hugh Halkett (1783–1863) and his wife. Each is signed C. Reimann del. 1846 to the lower edge. The portraits are drawn in pencil and wash, with delicate tonal shading and fine detail typical of mid-19th-century German portrait work. Sir Hugh Halkett was a distinguished Hanoverian general, celebrated for his service in the Napoleonic Wars and at the Battle of Waterloo. A printed biographical note outlining his career is affixed to the reverse of his portrait. Both drawings are presented under glass within later giltwood oval frames of decorative scroll design, retaining their original grey mounts.
