Hand painted & gilded in a classical manner with a stunning cobalt blue ground Offered in very good condition commensurate with age. Colour rich and good and gilding very clean. No damage to the porcelain. Little verdigris and wear to ormolu and lacquered brass. Each urn is formed of three sections; lid, body & base. A beautiful rich cobalt blue ground to the whole. The lid with ormolu finial and ormolu band to the base. A reciprocal gilt band to the upper urn and decorative gilt collar to the tapered upper section. Each urn with a fine gilt relief star to front and back and stunning heavy gilt handles to either side in the form of rams heads. Further ornate giltwork to the lower urn and a square form ormolu base. Each urn is of an impressive size, almost 1 metre in height. Hand crafted and decorated in the manner of Sevres, created after pieces housed in the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg. Commissioned as a one off pair in the late 1980's, these urns are of a of superb hand crafted quality and would grace any residence. Measures: Width: 43 cm Depth: 30 cm Height: 90 cm. Title: Vintage Mahogany Three Bottle Cut Crystal Tantalus with Silver Plated Mounts Description: Vintage Three Bottle Cut Crystal Tantalus with Silver Plated Mounts A finely made vintage three-bottle tantalus in polished mahogany, fitted with three heavy cut-crystal decanters with faceted stoppers and silver-plated collars. Each decanter retains its original chain-hung silver-plated liquor label, engraved BRANDY, WHISKY and PORT, set within decorative cartouches. The bottles are of square form with deep cut decoration, including cross-cut panels and star-cut bases, giving a crisp, architectural appearance and a pleasing weight in the hand. The mahogany case is well proportioned with shaped ends, a raised plinth base and a hinged locking front, fitted with a butterfly-form escutcheon and original key. The arched carrying handle and corner mounts are silver-plated, providing an attractive contrast against the rich tone of the wood. Title: Antique Brass Two Handled Dish Description: Antique Brass Two-Handled Dish – 19th Century A characterful antique brass dish, of shallow oval form with two ring handles. Handmade and joined with visible copper rivets, this piece exhibits the craftsmanship typical of the mid to late 19th century, c.1850–1900. The dish shows the attractive wear and warm patina associated with age and use, particularly on the underside where natural oxidisation has darkened the surface. Measuring approximately 39cm across the handles and 28.5cm wide, it would originally have served as a utilitarian kitchen or hearth item, possibly for serving or preparing food. The combination of materials and construction suggests a European origin, quite possibly English or French. A fine example of traditional domestic metalwork from the Victorian period, now offering strong decorative appeal. The lid is centred with a motif of a quill and letter, framed within a foliate and geometric border, symbolising correspondence. A diamond-shaped mother-of-pearl escutcheon is fitted to the front. The slope opens to reveal a purple velvet writing surface with wear consistent with age, fitted with compartments for inkwells and writing accessories. The interior is lined in golden satinwood or sycamore, with additional storage beneath the hinged writing panels. Green baize to the underside. Condition: Structurally sound and well preserved, with minor veneer losses and surface wear. Velvet worn with fraying along the central hinge. These were made by several British glasshouses (notably Sowerby, Davidson, and Greener), and the beaded texture, applied handle and moulded lettering are all characteristic. The inscription around the top band commemorates the 1887 Jubilee, with the typical raised beading and scalloped rim used on period examples. Seed bubbles and mould lines are original to manufacture.
