Title: Mid-20th Century Anglo-Indian Inlaid Dining Table Description: Mid-20th Century Anglo-Indian Inlaid Dining Table Fine quality large and decorative mid-20th century Anglo-Indian dining table, crafted in padouk and extensively inlaid with bone in floral designs. The oval top features three circular medallions of scrolling foliage and blossoms, set within a continuous floral border. The frieze is similarly inlaid, and the table is raised on twin octagonal pedestal bases, each panelled and decorated with matching inlaid motifs. This type of work was produced in Northern India, particularly in Hoshiarpur and Rajasthan, where the Mughal tradition of inlaid furniture continued into the 20th century, often for export to the West. The craftsmanship and scale make this table ideal as a statement dining piece, comfortably seating 8. Dimensions: Length: 199 cm (78.35 in.) Width: 108 cm (42.5 in.) Height: 75.5 cm (29.75 in.) Condition Report The table is in good overall condition, remaining structurally sound and fit for use. The oval top is stable and sits correctly on the twin pedestal bases, which detach as designed for ease of movement. There is general minor surface wear consistent with age and use, including light scratches. The bone inlay is largely intact, with minor nibbles and some good old repair The frieze retains its continuous inlaid decoration, with light wear and softening of detail in places. The pedestal bases are sturdy, with minor edge wear and scuffing to the lower sections. The finish appears original or sympathetically refreshed, now presenting with an even, mellow patina. Overall, the table is in very good condition and presents well, with wear commensurate with age and use. Ready for installation Provenance The table was removed from an Elizabethan stately home in Worcestershire, where it had been installed as part of an interior scheme by a professional design team. It was used as a decorative dining table within the property. The table itself, we believe, dates to the mid-20th century and is of Anglo-Indian manufacture, consistent with furniture produced in Northern India—particularly Hoshiarpur and Rajasthan—for export to the British market.
