About the Art and the Artist: ‘JACKIE KENNEDY’ with her iconic Pure Evil dripping tear is for the loss of John F Kennedy, her husband and President of America. Charles Uzzell-Edwards iconic USP and artistic interpretation of her loss, is a four coloured hand pulled Silk Screen Print with aqua, red, purple, black and sheen black dripping tear accents. The style of Pure Evil is certainly distinctive, leading to the growth of his brand worldwide. Using primarily graffiti and stencil, the work of Pure Evil is often bright and colourful, while including satirical and political overtones that mock popular culture. Jackie Kennedy (1929-94), born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, later Jackie Onassis, worked as a photographer before marrying ambitious Democratic politician JFK in 1953. She became the nation’s most celebrated First Lady when Kennedy was elected US president in 1961. On November 21 1963 she was with Kennedy in an open car crossing Dealey Plaza in Dallas when the shots were fired that changed America’s sense of itself, breeding paranoia and countless conspiracy theories. Pure Evil is the moniker for Welsh born Street artist, Charles Uzzell-Edwards, who studied fashion and graphics in London. Moving to the West Coast of the US in the early 90’s, he found inspiration in the graffiti and skate culture and became heavily involved in the electronic music scene. About the Art and the Artist: ‘JACKIE KENNEDY’ with her iconic Pure Evil dripping tear is for the loss of John F Kennedy, her husband and President of America. The style of Pure Evil is certainly distinctive, leading to the growth of his brand worldwide. Using primarily graffiti and stencil, the work of Pure Evil is often bright and colourful, while including satirical and political overtones that mock popular culture. Jackie Kennedy (1929-94), born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, later Jackie Onassis, worked as a photographer before marrying ambitious Democratic politician JFK in 1953. She became the nation’s most celebrated First Lady when Kennedy was elected US president in 1961. On November 21 1963 she was with Kennedy in an open car crossing Dealey Plaza in Dallas when the shots were fired that changed America’s sense of itself, breeding paranoia and countless conspiracy theories. Pure Evil is the moniker for Welsh born Street artist, Charles Uzzell-Edwards, who studied fashion and graphics in London. Moving to the West Coast of the US in the early 90’s, he found inspiration in the graffiti and skate culture and became heavily involved in the electronic music scene. Pure Evil’s first street works were in California, where he would paint anti Bush slogans on roadsides and Murderers on gun stores. Returning to London, his street work continued with a new graffiti tag that was to become his iconic signature. Pure Evil’s infamous Vampire Bunny is the result of a recurring childhood nightmare (nightmares also being a major theme in his work). Pure Evil soon fell in with the people behind Banksy’s Santa’s Ghetto and started to produce new prints and paintings alongside his street work. World wide About the Artists and the ART Gilbert Prousch, sometimes referred to as Gilbert Proesch (born 17 September 1943 in San Martin de Tor, Italy), and George Passmore (born 8 January 1942 in Plymouth), are two artists who work together as the collaborative art duo Gilbert & George. They are known for their distinctive and highly formal appearance and manner in performance art, and also for their brightly coloured graphic-style photo-based artworks. The artists celebrated their 50th anniversary in April 2023, Gilbert & George opened the Gilbert & George Centre in Heneage Street, London E1 to showcase their work in regular exhibitions and to secure their legacy. The pair are perhaps best known for their large scale photo works, known as The Pictures. The early work in this style is in black and white, later with hand-painted red and yellow touches.
