The bottle has the well-known blue and white Tesco value label. The neck of the bottle is stuffed with a burning cloth. The label reads "Petrol Bomb." By choosing Tesco supermarkets’ own-brand of beer bottle and its basic no-bones packaging. Banksy’s painting speaks to a bread-line culture of austerity and welfare. Banksy designed and released Tesco Petrol Bomb at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair where this was purchased in a show of support for those who were arrested during the 2011 Bristol riots. People were protesting the new Tesco Express that opened in the Stokes Croft area. The protests became violent and people were arrested as reported on the national news. Banksy produced several prints for sale and donated the profits to those who need to pay for legal assistance. People were able to buy the posters exclusively at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair days after the riots broke out. Tesco Petrol Bomb is also a symbol of the supermarket expansion. Supermarkets are detrimental to free markets as local shops are getting wiped out. Almost a decade after the 2000 POW (Pictures On Walls) Don't Panic collaboration, Banksy rose from street artist to cause célèbre. In 2010 Banksy came back with a new poster to celebrate the launch of his then, new film ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’. ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’ Exit Through The Gift Shop is a mockumentary "edited" by Banksy, in which a film-maker hanging out with key street artists decides to cash in on the art world's credulity himself – (The Telegraph, 6 March 2010). ‘Forgive Us Our Trespassing’, - Salt Lake City, Utah First appeared in 2010 as street graffiti art, the image in Forgive Us Our Trespassing sets aside Banksy’s usual biting satire and derision, revealing instead subtler, more nuanced sentiments. Complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the "Master Printer". Each print in this edition has been hand sorted and fully inspected by the Master Printer. Professionally framed to a high standard in a bespoke frame and art mounted. Note: supplied with replacement valuation certificate for £1800 along with biographical details on the artist (free of charge). Condition is excellent. This work was produced by the artist during his Bauhaus period in Germany when he taught basic design and advanced colour theory and where he also conducted painting classes. His examination of the effects of forces on straight lines led to his contrasting tones on curved and angled lines and you might describe this work as a 'geometric abstraction' with the circle, the half circle, the curves and the straight lines. Kandinsky was also influenced by Gestalt psychological research which had an influence on him in addition to his colour theory. The Gestalt effect is the capability of the brain to generate complete forms, particularly about the visual recognition of global figures instead of just collections of more straightforward and separate elements such as points, lines and curves.
