Title: Wassily Kandinsky Limited Edition "In Blue, 1925" Description: 7797 - This Wassily Kandinsky limited edition titled "In Blue, 1925" was published as a numbered edition of only 75 Worldwide of which this print is one from the edition. Complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the "Master Printer". Each print in this edition has been hand sorted and fully inspected by the Master Printer. Professionally framed to a high standard in a bespoke frame and art mounted. Note: supplied with replacement valuation certificate for £1800 along with biographical details on the artist (free of charge). Condition is excellent. This work was produced by the artist during his Bauhaus period in Germany when he taught basic design and advanced colour theory and where he also conducted painting classes. His examination of the effects of forces on straight lines led to his contrasting tones on curved and angled lines and you might describe this work as a 'geometric abstraction' with the circle, the half circle, the curves and the straight lines. Kandinsky was also influenced by Gestalt psychological research which had an influence on him in addition to his colour theory. The Gestalt effect is the capability of the brain to generate complete forms, particularly about the visual recognition of global figures instead of just collections of more straightforward and separate elements such as points, lines and curves. Description - Not far from Banksy's home town of Bristol and billed as the ‘UKs Most Disappointing Visitor Attraction’. Running for five weeks between 21st August to September 17th 2015 was Banksy’s Dismaland at Western-Super-Mare. Auctioning my Banksy collectors merchandise and memorabilia collected from Banksy’s Dismaland Bemusement Park including purchased items and cardboard ‘Free art’ which was found spread around Dismaland INCLUDED – A ‘Dismaland’ – A Disney ‘Mickey Mouse’ hand by DMS - purchased from the gift shop and unopened, some were scatter bombed around the park. This was a limited Edition - Mickey Mouse hand,’ Titled Dead Dismal’ by dismal Hand , there where other things such as ‘fishfinger in a bag’ and ‘I’m an Imbercile’ balloon by Shrigley. ‘Keep it Real’ on card 27 x 18 cm cardboard art – To the front ’Keep it Real’, spray art, signed ‘ Banksy is Dismal’ to the reverse with the Dismaland Bemusement Park stamp. Inscribed with Enjoy your Free Art, dated 2015 and with number edition 3/3. Also the hand-drawn ‘Angry Smiley Face’ character which crystalises Banksy’s street wise characterisation of Disneyland, Capitalist culture and a criticism of consumerism . As well as Banksy and his installation’s of the Mediterranean Boat ride, Cinderella, the Grim Reeper, the Fountain, the Mermaid, the Giant Pinwheel and Jumping Killer Whale, some detailed on the Tour Guide. The attendants and gift shop staff in pink hi vis where nasty and rude, all part of Dismaland. In the Programme, there are pics and resumes of other likeminded national and international artists including other street artists such as LUSH, pop art, surrealist, abstract and conceptual artists. Including Damien Hurst, with music from the infamous Russian Pussy Riot and Sleaford Mods, Massive Attack and comedy including the now famous Kathryn Ryan. Now passing on my collection from those great days All in good to excellent condition and has been stored in a dry cupboard for a few years. Born in India in 1935 of British/Portuguese parents, Baptist's artistic education began at home; his father a musician, writer and artist, his mother, drawn to nature. About the Art and Artists: Signed By: Sir Peter Blake RA & Chris Gabrin In Pencil Chris Gabrin talks about All New Boots and Panties I first met Ian Dury in 1973 when his band Kilburn and the Highroads were playing the pub circuit and immediately was impressed by Ian Dury’s talent, wit and style. We became friends and when Ian Dury signed to Stiff Records in 1977 he called and asked me to take some pictures for his album sleeve (untitled at the time). There was no particular theme in mind and we started with some uninspiring shots outside his flat in The Oval in South London. Ian Dury had his son, Baxter, with him and suggested we went to a shop he knew, Axfords in Victoria, which Sir Peter Blake had introduced him to. I only shot 24 exposures and Baxter was in just four of them. As soon as the films were developed Ian Dury came round and we immediately chose the same shot. We were so excited by the picture that we went straight into my darkroom and made the first print. The album title New Boots And Panties was subsequently coined by Ian Dury. After Ian's death in 2000, a tribute album was released, a re-recording of New Boots by guest artists under the title of Brand New Boots And Panties. Sir Peter Blake did a painting of Ian Dury for the front cover and requested that we use my photo on the back of the sleeve. Rob Smeaton of Rockoptic, an old friend from my art college days, was working with Sir Peter Blake on publishing limited edition prints of his work and came up with the brainwave of a joint artwork combining the two images. Working with Sir Peter Blake was one of the highlights of my life. This unforgettable experience, however, was tempered with sadness over the loss of Ian Dury. The subsequent artwork, All New Boots And Panties, which we created with the aid of Brad Faine, Peters long-time printmaker is a both a tribute and a fond farewell to Ian Dury from both of us. Can combine Lots for best value. Please contact for best value postage. About the Art and the Artist This Surrealist but darkly humorous and grotesque picture has a matt black body to the subjects. It shares a dadaist influence of the absurd but has the charming qualities of Horst Janner and his earlier seminal work. For Horst, this is a different and unusual composition in the DaDa influence. Horst Janssen (14 November 1929 – 31 August 1995) was a German draftsman, printmaker, poster artist and illustrator. He had a prolific output of drawings, etchings, woodcuts, lithographs and wood engravings. Janssen was a student of Alfred Mahlau at the Landeskunstschule Hamburg. He first published in the newsweekly Die Zeit in 1947. In the early 1950s, he started working in lithography, on an initiative of Aschaffenburg paper manufacturer Guido Dessauer, using the technical facilities of a coloured paper factory. The first retrospective of Janssen's drawings and graphic works was shown in 1965, first in the kestnergesellschaft Hanover, then in other German cities and in Basel. In 1966, he was awarded Hamburg's Edwin Scharff Prize. International exhibitions followed. In 1968, he received the Grand Prize in graphic art at the Venice Biennale; in 1977, his works were shown at the documenta VI in Kassel. About the ART and the ARTIST First known for his chalk drawings in the New York City subway, Keith Haring gained international recognition after a solo exhibition at Tony Shafrazi Gallery in 1982. He continued to draw in the subways. Haring compared the Pop Shop to a Bookstore shop, he added it was his "version of fast food or fast art.'' In addition to Haring's memorabilia, he also sold a few items by other artists. Haring's friend and mentor Andy Warhol was "a big supporter" of the Pop Shop. This very fine original painting has been professionally mounted, ready to be framed and is in excellent condition. John Chisnall was born in Carshalton, Surrey in 1943 where he spent the first twenty years of his life. He had a very successful career in the public sector, managing the design and construction of a wide range of buildings and civil engineering structures for the government estate. The professional experience gained in this field has given him extensive knowledge of many of the subjects he now explores in his paintings. He developed his interest in painting and drawing in parallel with his primary career until, gradually, these activities gained more importance and in 1992 he left public service in order to spend more time painting. John Chisnall has painted in various media throughout his life and now works mainly in watercolour, finding this medium well suited to catching both the atmosphere and the detail of a place. Largely self taught, although he did spend three years at Sutton School of Art studying life drawing, his paintings are direct celebrations of visual pleasures and ignore the darker sides of modern life. Exhibiting extensively in galleries throughout the UK, he has had six one-man shows in the last 15 years and has illustrated several books on local villages and parishes in Surrey. His pictures are held in collections as far-a-field as the USA and Australia. He is also a regular cartoonist with several magazines.
