The trunk has the original Army & Navy C.L.S plaque on the interior which also reads 'London Bombay Calcutta'. On the lid is painted the original owner's name, P.E. Percival I.C.S, who may have been the Judicial Commissioner of Sind in 1926. The beautiful mahogany box is decorated with shaped brass corner fittings with brass banding, escutcheon and uninscribed cartouche. With recessed brass handles to sides and front drawer. The interior has been professionally renovated with the red leather interior being a mix of original and new lidded compartments and an original correspondence folder in the lid. There is also a replacement removable mirror flanked by red leather cardholders. There is a pen holder and a lift-out tray with storage space below. The 4 crystal scent bottles are modern replacements. Chubb working lock and key. To the right of the lock is a brass pin which when removed releases the drawer below which is opened by the flush campaign brass handle. This stunning box has been sympathetically refurbished retaining many original features and therefore its character. Title: George VI Sterling Silver & Enamel Compact Description: This beautiful George VI sterling silver and enamel antique powder compact is of square form and with internal mirror. The anterior surface is embellished with an enamel panel depicting a group of traditional fishing vessels possibly from Asia. There is a minute piece of enamel missing by the thumb clasp which is barely noticeable. The enamel panel is bordered with a band of bead and spindle decoration. The reverse of the compact, is embellished with a panel of engine turned decoration. This lid opens to reveal the original integrated mirror and powder compartment which retains the original gilding. Intricate mother of pearl inlay to lid and front. On lifting the lid the new interior is revealed consisting of a removable tray with 5 open compartments and 3 silk lidded with mother of pearl knobs. Under the tray there is plenty of room to store larger pieces of jewellery and watches. In the interior of the lid there is a removable silk framed mirror.
