About the Art and Artist ‘Dead Rebels’ is an awe inspiring captivating believable and moving satire of The Sex Pistols, SID VICIOUS, ELVIS PRESLEY and JIMI HENDRIX trilogy of screenprints from POW in 2006. Insect at his best, where he captures the reality of Rock N Roll stardom. From his early street Graf period these screenprints from his anarchic phase of 2006 is from his ‘Dead Rebels’ triptych. The triptych includes Dead Sid, Dead Elvis and Dead Hendrix on 300 gsm white wove art paper. Other editions of Dead Sid, Dead Elvis and Dead Hendrix followed the original on Silver and Gold wove paper in 2007. The U.K.-born and -based artist, who prefers to keep his true identity anonymous, first rose to prominence as part of the “insect” Street artist collective, which was active in London between 1996 and 2005. Insect’s first big break arrived in 2007, when Damien Hirst reportedly bought out the artist’s entire solo show before it even opened at London’s Lazarides Gallery. About the Artists and the ART Gilbert Prousch, (born 17 September 1943 in San Martin de Tor, Italy), and George Passmore (born 8 January 1942 in Plymouth), are two artists who work together as the collaborative art duo Gilbert & George. They are known for their distinctive and highly formal appearance and manner in performance art, and also for their brightly coloured graphic-style photo-based artworks. Born in 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska, Edward Ruscha was raised in Oklahoma City before moving to Los Angeles in 1956 to study graphic design at the Chouinard Art Institute (now the California Institute of Arts). Exit Through The Gift Shop is a mockumentary "edited" by Banksy, in which a film-maker hanging out with key street artists decides to cash in on the art world's credulity, himself – (The Telegraph, 6 March 2010). ‘Forgive Us Our Trespassing’, Salt Lake City, Utah- First appeared in 2010 as street graffiti art, the image in Forgive Us Our Trespassing sets aside Banksy’s usual biting satire and derision, revealing instead subtler, more nuanced sentiments. The iconic image of the praying boy kneeling beside a can of paint and a brush first appeared on a wall in Salt Lake City, Utah. Running for five weeks between 21st August to September 17th 2015 was Banksy’s Dismaland at Western-Super-Mare. Auctioning my Banksy collectors merchandise and memorabilia collected from Banksy’s Dismaland Bemusement Park including purchased items and cardboard ‘Free art’ which was found spread around Dismaland INCLUDED – A ‘Dismaland’ – A Disney ‘Mickey Mouse’ hand by DMS - purchased from the gift shop and unopened, some were scatter bombed around the park. This was a limited Edition - Mickey Mouse hand,’ Titled Dead Dismal’ by dismal Hand , there where other things such as ‘fishfinger in a bag’ and ‘I’m an Imbercile’ balloon by Shrigley. ‘Keep it Real’ on card 27 x 18 cm cardboard art – To the front ’Keep it Real’, spray art, signed ‘ Banksy is Dismal’ to the reverse with the Dismaland Bemusement Park stamp. Inscribed with Enjoy your Free Art, dated 2015 and with number edition 3/3. Also the hand-drawn ‘Angry Smiley Face’ character which crystalises Banksy’s street wise characterisation of Disneyland, Capitalist culture and a criticism of consumerism . As well as Banksy and his installation’s of the Mediterranean Boat ride, Cinderella, the Grim Reeper, the Fountain, the Mermaid, the Giant Pinwheel and Jumping Killer Whale, some detailed on the Tour Guide. The attendants and gift shop staff in pink hi vis where nasty and rude, all part of Dismaland. In the Programme, there are pics and resumes of other likeminded national and international artists including other street artists such as LUSH, pop art, surrealist, abstract and conceptual artists. Including Damien Hurst, with music from the infamous Russian Pussy Riot and Sleaford Mods, Massive Attack and comedy including the now famous Kathryn Ryan. The bottle has the well-known blue and white Tesco value label. The neck of the bottle is stuffed with a burning cloth. The label reads "Petrol Bomb." By choosing Tesco supermarkets’ own-brand of beer bottle and its basic no-bones packaging. Banksy’s painting speaks to a bread-line culture of austerity and welfare. Banksy designed and released Tesco Petrol Bomb at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair where this was purchased in a show of support for those who were arrested during the 2011 Bristol riots. People were protesting the new Tesco Express that opened in the Stokes Croft area. The protests became violent and people were arrested as reported on the national news. Banksy produced several prints for sale and donated the profits to those who need to pay for legal assistance. People were able to buy the posters exclusively at Bristol's Anarchist Bookfair days after the riots broke out. Tesco Petrol Bomb is also a symbol of the supermarket expansion. Supermarkets are detrimental to free markets as local shops are getting wiped out. Worldwide ABOUT the ART and the ARTIST Insect first rose to prominence as part of the “insect” artist collective street crew in London which was active between 1996 and 2005. The U.K.-born and based artist, prefers to keep his true identity anonymous. In 2006 to 2012 Insect left the streets as new government policy criminalised street graffiti art. He and many others had direct involvement in (POW) Pictures On Walls gallery in Shoreditch. From 2012 Paul Insect’s work evolved from street graf into bright, multi-textured collages feature cropped portraits, patterned colour fields, benday dots, and decorative elements such as diamond dust and glitter.
